FIREPLACE POETRY

When I close my eyes

there’s a gravitational shift

my flesh wants to hang with demons

but my heart senses a cliff.

When I close my eyes

I’m tempted to let go

but then I remember

Life is more than just a show.

At the end of the day

it’s my eternity at stake

the demons try to deceive me

and disguise the fiery lake.

Lord, please help me!

protect my soul

I know you’re real

Please take control.

The demons keep lurking

they try to tell me it’s all the same

but my heart knows their lying

because YOU call me by name.
