Daily writing prompt
Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

When I was in high-school, I use to write poetry all the time. I would write poems about love, heart break, made up stories and pretty much anything related to High-School drama. In December of that next year, I was hit in the face with adult-hood and instead of continuing to be a free-spirited poet, trauma turned me into someone I didn’t even know.

For years, I tried to write again but I simply couldn’t come up with the words. One day, I got so frustrated with not being able to write – I went outside, started a fire in the fire pit, and burned my poetry journal page by page. (I know it’s a bit dramatic but I’m an all or nothing type of person).

I was so distraught and frustrated because writing had always been a huge part of my life. Poetry was my therapy and without it, I felt lost and emotionally unstable.

This past year, I sat down and begged God to write again. I begged and pleaded to find the words and restore the pain that I knew was holding me back.

Next thing you know, I started writing my prayers and to my surprise….they were poems! One poem turned into two and now I’m proud to say I have already filled another journal (this time I won’t burn it).

This year, not only did I start writing again but I started a blog. This past year my joy was restored and I’m doing something that not only makes me happy but is also something good for me. I write because I love it and that is why I begged God to help me find my way back to a rhyme.

I want to encourage everyone on here to not give up on something or someone you love! Your best days are right in front of you and if you keep praying about it and keep working it – IT WILL WORK OUT! I am so thankful that I started writing again – it lead me here and allows me to be on a platform with people all around the world – WHAT A BLESSING!

That’s so heartfelt Alex.I never knew I liked writing because I had never written as a “hobby”!In 2014 when I started blogging it did change my life forever. This was a good reminder.
