FIREPLACE POETRY

Refining is the process of purification (to remove impurities) of a substance or a form. Refinement is time consuming, takes precision and requires materials to go through extreme temperatures. Typically…. refinement takes Fire (aka a Fireplace).

This year, I learned that being refined by God is an extremely uncomfortable process. This year, I learned that in order to be truly refined, I had to be fully surrendered.

Why does it take full surrender? Because If you keep jumping out of the fire right when life starts to burn you, you will never become pure. If you want God to truly refine you, you have to go through extreme conditions. You have to be willing to be broken down and built back up – over and over again.

Becoming refined by God takes faith – you have to believe he CAN do it and continue to believe he WILL (especially when it starts to hurt).

The Surrender:

My anxiety is high.

My faith is running low.

Lord, I surrender.

I choose to let go.

I give you my all

My future and my past.

I’m tired of running

on a road that won’t last.

You are the creator.

Lord, you wear the crown.

I surrender my all.

I lay it all down.
