Daily writing prompt
What are you doing this evening?

All day I knew I needed to go to Wednesday night church service but didn’t know why. Every hour I thought about skipping, but knew I needed to be in the room. Two hours ago, I finally figured out WHY.

A little after 5pm, my husband walked in the house and I could tell something was wrong. After taking a moment to decompress he asked me if I heard the news about Charlie Kirk. I was doing laundry, cooking dinner and finishing up work, so the name didn’t register immediately. The moment he said Charlie’s name again, it’s like everything around me stopped and time stood still. My eyes filled with tears and my heart started to beat so fast to the point I had to sit down.

How could this happen? Why would someone do this? He’s only 31! He is a daddy! He is a husband!!!

RIGHT NOW…… I’m sitting at church and I still can’t wrap my mind around it. I am so sad but at the same time so so angry! Although I have so many raw emotions, my heart hurts for his wife. Now because of this incident she’s a single mom and will have to navigate life as a single mother. Although this is a horrible situation and my heart hurts so deeply….. there is something in the air that feels so uneasy and I can’t ignore it.

As a Christian, this doesn’t feel like just a political stunt – it seems spiritual. In Ephesians 6:12, it says “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”. Right now, I want to encourage everyone to be brave! Like Charlie, stand up for what you believe in and don’t be afraid of the haters! SPEAK TRUTH, SPEAK LOVE and DON’T BE SILENCED – no matter the cost.

This truly is one nation under God and instead of pointing fingers and walking in so much HATE….. We need to walk in love because deep down, we are all the same! We are humans – WE HURT, WE BLEED, WE LOVE, WE EXPERIENCE HEARTBREAK, WE LAUGH, WE LOVE, SOMETIMES WE’RE SAD, SOMEDAYS WE’RE HAPPY!

In loving memory of Charlie:

Charlie, Charlie

I know where you are

You are in heaven with God

Shining like a star.

Charlie, Charlie,

Your legacy will live on

All across the world

Your echo will breakthrough the dawn.

We will always remember you

And stand up for truth

You are a true American Patriot

Red, White & Blue.
